Profile overview

The CD6 is an R+D center of the Technical University of Catalonia, which operates in the field of Optics and Photonics. The activity of CD6 is focused on applied research in the following areas: Optical Metrology, Visual Biophotonics, Optical Design, Color and spectral technologies and Optical NDT. A 40 people team with complementary expertise (Optics & Photonics, Electronics, Mechanics and Software/Firmware) work at CD6. This multidisciplinary combination helps to develop fully-operative prototypes that turn technology transfer to companies into an effective process. CD6 research targets markets like Industry 4.0, Health, Automotive, Smart Cities, IoT or Precision Agriculture among others. Research at CD6 is focused in supporting innovation and entrepreneurial projects. The achieved results have led to the creation of twelve spin-off companies that manufacture and market worldwide new products in different sectors. CD6 also hosts a photonic technologies incubator to help entrepreneurs rise the TRL of their research results.
